Scale and Proportion

This work is by artist Katsushika Hokusai.  The piece is called Lightning on Mount.  This work uses scale and proportion.  The volcano or mountain takes up the majority of the space.  This makes the clouds, sky and water look very small in the background.  The sky goes on forever and there is a large body of water behind it, but the size of the mountain gives the illusion that it is larger than everything else.
